Chad went on his first Boy Scout Hike a couple weeks ago. They went and camped out over night at Mirror Lake on a Friday night and then the next day they hiked to the top of Tom Dick Harry Mountain. By the time they got back to the car Saturday afternoon they had hiked 9 miles. There were some real learning moments for Chad. I swear someone needs to sit down and teach the 11 year old scouts how to pack for a hike and overnight camp out. Mom was never a boyscout and Dad was not home enough that week to help get Chad ready. SO chad ended up going on his hike with a half empty hiking back pack and a day pack bag that was too big and only had a small lunch in it. He should have put it into his big hiking pack, but mom had no idea:D
