The Decluttering Phase

Well the decluttering phase of our summer has begun. I have been telling the kids for a couple weeks the first thing we are doing for summer break is cleaning out each room and decluttering. We do this every year when we are done with school. For several years it has involved boxing up school books and computers to send back to a virtual school. Since we did that in December and January we don't have to deal with it now. So why is it that these little Michael Land subjects don't seem to get that they are required to help with this? They drag their feet and complain. I have spent HOURS in their bedrooms. We have hauled so much to DI and the garbage and recycle. I think it looks much better. I can't wait till we can start in the Girl cave! OH this room is bad. When I was down for the count for all those months it was "just toss it in my cave." So of course it is bad in here. I decided since I am decluttering and getting rid of stuff it was time to give away the baby things. Now that one was hard. Chuck brought in all the boxes for me. The living room was so full of boxes the poor dog couldn't get around in there. I did keep 2 small bins of stuff that I just couldn't let go. I also kept 2 bins worth of toys and all the little people. One of the girls who couldn't keep her hands off the toys said "you guys are going to be the cool grandparents to have all these toys at your house." Awww some day.... I do hope to have lots of grandchildren and I hope to be blessed enough to have them close by so they can come play at my house. I do dream of those big family gatherings where my 5 kids and their families come home.
So anyway I am rambling on now. I guess I should get back to the decluttering. I need to go check out Chuck's garden too. He ended up planting tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, cantaloupe, pumpkins, snap beans, and some strawberry plants. He hopes to have a bigger garden next year. He really wants corn, but I don't see that happening!
